The North Eastern Area  is one of fourteen BMFA areas in the country, and was first formed on the 4th August 1946, by representatives from Stockton, Newcastle, Seaham and Eston model clubs. The first meeting lasted five hours and a full constitution based on that drafted by the Midland Area was adopted, a report of the days events appeared in the October 1946 issue of Aeromodeller. The area we now cover stretches from Teesside to Whitehaven / Carlisle in the west and as far north as you would care to go.
The North Eastern Area now has more than 30 clubs and well over 1000 members excluding country members (those not members of a specific club).

Area meetings were held in the GREY HORSE public house in Boldon, but are now held the first Wednesday of each month throughout the year, in the SHOULDER OF MUTTON public house, Shiney Row, County Durham.
Meetings commence at 8pm and are well attended with delegates representing on average, 19 clubs. If your club is not represented, then come along and check out the topics for discussion first hand. Your contribution will be appreciated. The Area also host an event, usually in September "The Geordie Nats"  although in a resent revamp to the event we have re-named it "The Great North Flyin" where you get the chance to see most aeromodelling disciplines, and the opportunity to get up close to the pilots.
